Sangdong High School baseball team game
Gangwon Yeongwol-gun announced on the 18th that it achieved its first win in the official league in which the Sangdong High School baseball team participated for the first time.
Sangdong High School won 8 to 7 in the 2024 High School Baseball Weekend League match against Gangwon High School on the 17th.
This is the first win in 7 months since founding.
100 high school teams registered with the Korea Baseball Softball Association participated in the 2024 High School Baseball Weekend League, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Baseball Softball Association.
The league, which opened on the 16th at Hoengseong Baseball Park, is divided into the first half from March to May and the second half from May to June to determine the winning team.
Sangdong High School baseball team game
Sangdong High School in an abandoned mining town is overcoming the crisis of closure due to a lack of new students by converting into Korea’s first public baseball high school.
To this end, the baseball team was founded with 14 new students in August 2023, and an additional 15 students were recruited this year.
Subsequently, as it was selected as an autonomous public high school designated by the Ministry of Education in March of this year, it plans to accelerate specialized career education related to sports, including baseball.
