Rookie Lee Dong-eun (19) is aiming for her first win on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour.
Lee Dong-eun hit 9 birdies without a single bogey in the first round of the High1 Resort Women’s Open (total prize money of 1 billion won) held at the High1 Country Club (par 72, 6,568 yards) in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do on the 11th.
Lee Dong-eun shot a 9-under 63 to take the lead by one stroke over second-place Jeon Ye-seong.
Although it was a course record, it was not recognized as an official record because the preferred lie rule was applied that day.
Lee Dong-eun was born to Lee Kun-hee, who played on the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour, and Lee Sun-joo, an associate member of the KLPGA.
Lee Dong-eun, who was a member of the national team during her amateur days, won one game in the KLPGA 2nd division Dream Tour last year and debuted in the regular tour this year.
He has competed in 15 tournaments this season, and has placed in the top 10 three times, with his best result being a runner-up finish at the Nexen-St. Nine Masters in April.
In the Rookie of the Year race, he came in second (603 points) after Yoo Hyeon-jo (827 points).
On this day, Lee Dong-eun recorded a fairway hit rate of 71.43% (10/14) and only 1.44 putts per green hit.
Dong-eun Lee, who had four birdies through the 5th hole (par 5), finished the first half on a high note by catching a birdie on the 9th hole (par 4).
On the 10th hole (par 4) and the 12th hole (par 4), he missed the fairway with his tee shot, but still managed to get a birdie.
On the 15th hole (par 5), he dropped a 6.3m birdie putt, and on the most difficult 18th hole (par 4), he almost made an eagle by hitting an iron shot 18cm from the hole.
Lee Dong-eun said, “I want to continue this feeling and play well for four days to win,” and added, “I think a lot about how my short game and putting need to be more precise. I’m still getting the feel for it.”
Lee Dong-eun cited his long-distance hitting ability as his strength, explaining, “Because I can hit the ball 10-20 meters further than other players, I often hit short wedge shots on par 4 holes, and on par 5 holes, there are holes where I can attempt a two-on.”
Second place goes to Jeon Ye-seong, who shot an 8-under 64, one stroke more.
Jeon Ye-seong finished the race in the lead, tying the unofficial course record, but gave up her spot to Lee Dong-eun. 안전놀이터
Jeon Ye-seong, who debuted in the regular tour in 2020, won her first career win at the Ever Collagen Queen’s Crown in July 2021.
Jeon Ye-seong showed off her accuracy by not missing the green even once in 18 holes and made eight birdies.
After finishing the game, Jeon Ye-seong said, “I have a habit of my lower body jumping forward, but when I maintained my lower body, the ball went where I wanted it to go,” and added, “I think it worked well because the course didn’t require me to go too far and the green speed was slow.”
He continued, “I decided to focus on what I could do now and not think negatively, and that led to good results.”
Han Jin-sun, who is aiming for his third consecutive win in this tournament, raised his hopes of defending his title by finishing in sole third place (7-under 65).
Han Jin-seon said, “I regained my confidence thanks to my two winning experiences, and I covered the change in distance with my old skills,” and expressed satisfaction by saying, “(Compared to the year before and last year) I had the best flow because I had a lot of birdies from the first day.”
Bang Shin-sil, Kim Min-ju, Jeon Woo-ri, and Ji Han-sol are tied for 4th place (6 under par, 66 strokes).
Yoon Ina and Choi Ye-rim, who have both finished as runners-up twice in the past month, are tied for 31st (2 under par) and tied for 43rd (1 under par), respectively. 카지노사이트
