Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Pedro Neto (24, Wolverhampton), the ‘Hwang Hee Chan partner’. However, they don’t think they can break the ‘club record’.
“Tottenham are in constant contact with Neto’s representatives and will make a move if they can get him for the right fee,” Tottenham fan page Spurs Web reported on Thursday.
Tottenham are looking to bolster their attacking ranks this summer. Not only are they looking to add a striker, but also a flanker, something manager Enzi Postecoglou has always wanted. Despite extending Timo Werner’s loan for another year, it seems he’s not satisfied.
Postecoglou is particularly eyeing younger options. According to CBS Sport’s Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are a clear favorite to sign 2005-born winger Desiree Doué (Stade Rennes).
The problem is, Spurs aren’t the only team after Doué. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also interested. If either of these teams swoop in, it’s hard to see Spurs winning. What’s more, unlike Spurs, both of these teams play in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
Spurs are not only keeping an eye on Doue, but also Neto.
“Spurs are likely to be looking to sign a wide range of players this summer,” says Spurs Webb. Neto is one of the players who has been heavily linked with a move to North London in recent months and he is at the top of Spurs’ wish list.”
Portuguese winger Neto is a key part of Wolverhampton’s attack. He arrived in a Wolverhampton shirt in 2019 and took the Premier League (PL) by storm with his explosive pace, darting runs, and sharp kicks.
Neto showed tremendous pace last season as well. 온라인카지노사이트 With one goal and seven assists in his first 10 league games, he was one of the top wingers in the PL. However, a hamstring injury sidelined him for a long time, and he ended up with just three goals and 11 assists in 24 games.
There’s no doubting his talent, but injuries are a problem. Neto was out for the 2020-2021 season with a knee injury, which also cost him the first half of the following season. In 2022-2023, he suffered an ankle injury that required surgery, and last season, he injured his hamstring twice and missed a whopping 125 days.
Despite this, Wolverhampton want £60 million for Neto.
The club is not willing to let go of the player, as he has formed a good partnership with Hwang Hee-chan to lead the team’s attack. Neto was the “Hwang Hee-chan helper” last season.
At £60 million, it would be Wolverhampton’s most expensive transfer in history and Tottenham’s most expensive ever. Wolverhampton’s most expensive transfer to date was the £53 million they received for the sale of Mateusz Nunes to Manchester City a year ago. Tottenham’s club record is the €62 million they spent to bring in Tanguy Ndombele.
Spurs believe that £60 million is too much for Ntoue, given his glassy temperament. Arsenal have been in the race for the player, but they don’t think they can afford to spend that much money. European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano says: “Tottenham are in regular contact with Neto’s agent. The key is the transfer fee. He’s had a lot of injuries, so a ‘crazy’ amount is not possible. That’s why Neto’s transfer also depends on the Wolverhampton side.”
Spurs Web assessed Neto’s asking price to be around £45 million. “Tottenham will be hesitant to offer more than £45 million given Neto’s injury history. Perhaps a compromise can be found by structuring the deal with a number of appearance-related bonuses.”
