‘Captain’ Son Heung-min is still the king of Tottenham.
Tottenham’s eighth round of the 2024-2025 English Premier League (EPL) season was highlighted by Son Heung-min’s ‘fantastic comeback’. Son went down with a hamstring (back thigh muscle) injury in the Europa League (UEL) against Qarabag (Azerbaijan) on March 26. He missed Tottenham’s next three games.
Son made his comeback against West Ham on Sept. 19 (ET) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, scoring his third goal of the season to lead Tottenham to a 4-1 victory. Tottenham conceded an early goal in the 18th minute to West Ham’s Mohamed Koudouz. Fortunately, West Ham’s lead didn’t last long. Dejan Kuluczewski equalized in the 36th minute.
Tottenham scored three goals in the second half. At the center of it all was Son Heung-min, who set the stage for the game-winner seven minutes into the second half to make it 1-1. His out-front pass that broke down the Suba line found Destiny Udoji. Udoji’s cutback was met by Eves Bissouma with his right foot.
Son Heung-min was single-handedly responsible for the second goal after the comeback.
He took a pass from Kulusebski in the 10th minute of the second half and fired a right-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and defender Jean-Claude Todivo. Areola was credited with an own goal.
Son Heung-min shook off the disappointment of the own goal five minutes later. On the counter-attack after a pass from Pape Sarr, Heung-min made a brilliant individual run before slotting home with his left foot. It was his third goal of the season. Son Heung-min has now scored 123 goals in the EPL, moving into the top 20 on the all-time goalscorers list. 파워볼사이트 He is tied for 19th with Raheem Sterling (Arsenal).
At the official press conference, Kuluszewski was the favorite. However, coach Enze Postecoglou brought up Son Heung-min when asked about Kulusebski.
“Koulousefski is the captain of Sweden and Bissouma is the captain of his country (Mali). “As I said last time, we have several leaders,” he said, adding, ‘Today we had a ’real captain’. It was good to have Son Heung-min back, he is a quality player and it showed in the finish. Overall, it was a good performance. We showed a lot of different sides, and that’s what I’m most pleased with.”
Son Heung-min told ‘Mixzone’:
“I think I had a good rest and recharged myself. “I focused a lot on the things that I could recover from, and I was able to come back as soon as possible. I tried to come back faster, but there are risks, so I took those into account. It’s good to come back at a good time and have another good performance today.”
On scoring the comeback goal that sealed the victory, he added: “First of all, it was a difficult situation after scoring the goal and leaving all this behind. We had a painful loss before the start of the A-match period, and watching that game (Brighton), it hurt me as a teammate and as a captain. I knew that if I was on that pitch, I would have wanted to help him a little bit more. Even in a game like today, it wasn’t me, it was the players who struggled and sacrificed a lot. I am happy that I was able to play such a good game,” he said.
