The Matildas have cast a wide net with eight uncapped players among a mammoth 36-player squad named for four friendlies in the November-December window.
World Cup penalty shootout hero Cortnee Vine remained out of the squad as well as captain Sam Kerr, who is closing in on a return to the pitch for WSL side Chelsea.
Interim coach Tom Sermanni said he wanted to take a look at players who had “previously had limited or no opportunities” in the national side for four matches in 10 days against Brazil and Chinese Taipei.
He handed Morgan Aquino, Leah Davidson, Isobel Gomez, Hana Lowry and Natasha Prior their maiden call-ups.
Aquino, a 23-year-old goalkeeper, was rewarded for her form with US club DC Power, while the other five were all plying their trade in the A-League Women.
“Traditionally, the first camps at the beginning of a new cycle is an exciting time, as it presents an opening to evaluate players that have previously had limited or no opportunities to showcase their capabilities,” Sermanni said.
“With their stylistic differences, Brazil and Chinese Taipei are opponents that allow us to continue the work of identifying new talent and building depth in 스포츠토토사이트 the senior roster that will strengthen the foundations for the Asian Cup, World Cup and Olympic major tournaments set for the next four years.
“Players have earned their selection in this window through their performances and application in the last October camp and, with the A-League Women competition now under way, their club performances in Australia and abroad.
