The Toronto Blue Jays’ wild card opponent has been decided.

Right-hander Wes Parsons, who previously played in the NC Dinos uniform in the KBO League, took the mound and gave up 10 hits (2 home runs), 3 strikeouts, 3 walks, and 9 runs in 4 innings.

The day before, Toronto lost 5-7 after Ryu Hyun-jin gave up 2 runs in 3 innings and lost 5-7 in overtime, but Seattle clinched a wild card ticket by losing 1-6 to Texas.

On this day, the Houston Astros defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1, and Texas lost 0-1 to Seattle, confirming Toronto’s third place following the American League wild card Tampa Bay Rays and Texas.

Toronto will face the Minnesota Twins, first place in the American League Central Division, in a best-of-three series for a ticket to the Division Series.

The location is Target Field, Minnesota’s home stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Tampa Bay and Texas, Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona, and Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins will clash for a spot in the next series.

Meanwhile, there is interest in whether Ryu Hyun-jin will be able to perform on stage this fall. MLB.com predicted Toronto’s fall roster.

But Ryu Hyun-jin’s name was not there.

MLB.com predicted that the starting lineup would include Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassett, Jose Berrios, and Yusei Kikuchi.

In the bullpen, we looked at the list of Jordan Romano, Jordan Hicks, Eric Swanson, Tim Mayza, Imi Garcia, Chad Green, Genesis Cabrera, and Trevor Richards.

Ryu Hyun-jin’s name was not there. MLB.com said, “It is difficult to imagine Ryu Hyun-jin as the fifth starter.”

With the wild card matchup set, attention is being paid to whether Ryu Hyun-jin will be on the mound in Toronto’s uniform until the fall.

Ryu Hyun-jin’s four-year contract with Toronto worth a total of $80 million (about 107.2 billion won) ends at the end of this season.

While attention is focused on whether he will go to the free agent market again and wear a different uniform next season, a breakup is being hinted at as the possibility of Ryu Hyun-jin being excluded from Toronto’s postseason roster has been mentioned.

Ryu Hyun-jin recorded 24 wins, 15 losses, and an ERA of 3.97 over four seasons in Toronto.
