Shin Yubin secures bronze medal in women’s table tennis singles

‘Pee-wee’ Shin Yoo-bin (Korean Air) has secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Table Tennis Singles at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

World No. 8 Hsin Yu-bin (KOREA) defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chen Tzu-yu (CHN – 48th) 4-1 (6-11 11-9 11-7 11-7 11-3) in the women’s singles table tennis match at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games on Tuesday at the Gungshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

There will be no bronze medal match in table tennis at this event. Shin Yubin secured at least a bronze medal with her semifinal victory.

After dropping the first game, she quickly turned the tide in game two. Taking the first game and being aggressive, Chen Tzu-wei made a series of unforced errors, which Shin converted into points and raced to a 6-0 lead.

She was able to pull back to 10-9, but then scored the next 11 points to level the game.

With the momentum in her favor, Shin took the third game. Down 6-5, she took the next three points to take control of the game and put her opponent away.

With momentum on his side, Shin quickly racked up points in game four. At 8-7, she took three consecutive points to close it out.

Shin closed out the match by taking game five. She opened up a 9-2 lead and never gave her opponent a chance to fight back.
