Gimcheon Sangmu failed to win its first home game this season.
According to the Gimcheon Sangmu Professional Football Club, the team lost their home match against Ulsan HD 2R in the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at the Gimcheon Sports Complex on Nov. 11, 2 to 3.
Gimcheon Sangmu started the game with the same 4-3-3 formation as the last game against Daegu.
Starting with goalkeeper Kang Hyun-moo, the defense was formed by Kim Tae-hyun, Kim Bong-soo, Kim Jae-woo, 스포츠토토 and Yoon Jong-kyu.
In the midfield, Kim Jin-kyu, Won Doo-jae, and Kang Hyun-mook started, while Kim Hyun-wook, Lee Young-joon, and Jeong Ji-in started in the attack.
Gimcheon set a new record for the highest paying crowd for a home opener with an official attendance of 5848, but the first home win will have to wait.
The biggest key for Gimcheon this season is organization.
As a “military team,” Gimcheon had difficulty assembling a winter training squad.
Although Gimcheon won their last match, they looked shaky with multiple passing errors.
Organization was also an issue in this match.
Gimcheon conceded three goals in the first half due to poor passing in the defensive zone.
With the players still not working together, Gimcheon will need to improve their organization if they want to stay in the K League 1, which is their primary goal this season.
Although Gimcheon lost, the team’s various on- and off-field events and never-say-die attitude gave home fans something to look forward to this season.
Gimcheon’s official attendance that day was 5,848, breaking the club’s record for the most paying fans.
The main factors were the vision performance, the unveiling of the club’s official cheer by ‘Transmission’, and the new seating system, including a sweepstakes.
The game was also characterized by the team’s refusal to give up until the end.
Gimcheon narrowed the gap in the 12th minute of the second half when Kim Hyun-wook converted a penalty kick after trailing 0-3.
Three minutes later, Kim Hyun-wook scored again after receiving a cross from Kim Jin-gyu to bring Ulsan within two goals at 3-2.
Gimcheon continued to play aggressively to try to equalize.
In the 19th minute of the second half, Kim Dong-hyun connected with a mid-range shot after the ball was cleared by the Ulsan defense, but the goalkeeper made the save. More bad luck followed.
In the 19th minute of the second half, Ulsan’s shot hit the crossbar in a chaotic situation in the Ulsan penalty box.
Gimcheon ultimately failed to find the back of the net and finished the game with a score of 2-3, but the two points in difficult circumstances against Ulsan gave the home crowd something to look forward to this season.
Gimcheon will next play at home against Jeonbuk on October 17th.
