Daegu FC ‘will only look ahead’ after failing to escape relegation zone

In front of their sixth sellout crowd of the season, Daegu FC suffered their first home defeat in seven years against Gangwon and failed to escape the relegation zone.

In the 14th round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 against Gangwon FC at DGB Daegu Bank Park on Saturday afternoon, Daegu conceded an early goal and fought back to equalize through Jang Jang-won, but conceded the game-winning goal in the dying minutes of the match to lose 1-2.

It was the first time Daegu had lost a head-to-head match at home to Gangwon since July 2017, and with the loss, Daegu dropped to 11th place, losing 10 spots to Jeju, 온라인카지노 who won on the same day.

Unable to penetrate Gangwon’s strong defense from the start of the match, Daegu played a difficult first half without a shot on target until the moment of Jang Sung-won’s equalizer.

Despite having a slight advantage in possession, Daegu was out-shot 6-12, especially as Jang Jang-won’s goal was the only shot on target throughout the match.

Conceding a late stoppage-time goal to Jangwon, Daegu’s defensive effort was also lackluster, and they failed to escape the relegation zone, leaving them just three points behind bottom-placed Daejeon Hana Citizens.

Head coach Park Chang-hyun was disappointed with the loss in front of a large home crowd, saying that his side struggled to defend and failed to take their chances.

Park Chang-hyun, the head coach of the team, said that the team can’t afford to look back, and that they will “only look forward” to the upcoming match against Suwon.

Despite the loss, the sold-out DGB Daegu Bank Park was filled with excitement as Sejingya was inducted into the 60-goal, 60-assist club before the match.

During the pre-game ceremony, Sejingya thanked the fans and the club for their congratulations, and also made a surprise announcement that she was pregnant with a baby girl, which was met with rapturous applause.

After missing out on a win in front of a sellout crowd, Daegu FC has a tough two-game road trip ahead of them, facing Suwon FC on Wednesday and then Daejeon Hana Citizens next week.
