Ahead of the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (WYOG) in January next year, a trio of South Korean athletes selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Gangwon 2024 Athlete Role Models advised young people participating in the Games to “keep in mind that medals are important, but it is also a great opportunity for growth and learning.”PyeongChang 2018 silver medalist in bobsleigh Won Yunjong, curler Kim Changmin and figure skater Min Yura shared their thoughts on being named Gangwon 2024 Role Models with the IOC today.
The IOC introduced the Role Model Athlete Program at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where top adult athletes serve as mentors to young athletes to help them develop positive values and improve their skills.Won, Kim, Changmin and MinYura wereamong the first 11 Role Model Athletes for Gangwon 2024 selected by the IOC in September, along with Nao Kodaira (JPN), whose idealism and “race of friendship” in 바카라사이트 speedskating at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games helped to inspire young people.
