Pepper Savings Bank head coach Joe Trinzi said he was happy with the way his players fought rather than the disappointing 20-game losing streak.
“It was a good effort,” Trinzi said after the match, “we fought well without Yasmin, but it wasn’t enough at the end.”
“Throughout the game today, the girls tried to play the way I wanted them to play,” he said, adding, “We just couldn’t stop Silva at the end, he’s a good player.”
Silva scored a game-high 36 points for both teams. He also had 16 turnovers and shot just 40.5 percent from the floor, but in the fifth set, he made five of eight attempts for 62.5 percent to lead his team to victory.
When asked where she saw potential in the match, Trinzi said, “First of all, I think we stepped up our game without Yasmin.”
“Park did a good job as an outside hitter,” Trinzi said, adding, “Phillips had two blockers in front of them and they were attacking a lot. She didn’t have as high of a success rate as she used to, but for her to do that without Yasmin, I think she did a good job.”
Yasmin is expected to be available for the game against IBK.
